New Delhi: In a major offensive against crime and disorder, the Delhi Police of North West district carried out an extensive operation under the ongoing initiative ‘Operation Kavach 8.0’.

The 24-hour campaign, conducted between June 18 and 19, 2025, resulted in multiple arrests, significant seizures, and a notable disruption to the supply chains of illicit substances and contraband in the region.

These actions are part of a broader effort by the police to enhance public safety, uphold law and order, and create a deterrent effect against criminal networks.

Crackdown on Drug Peddling

One of the key highlights of the operation was the seizure of 5.27 kilograms of ganja and the arrest of 13 individuals allegedly involved in drug-related activities.

According to officials, the liquor was being brought in from neighboring states with the intention of local distribution. The bust is seen as a critical move in curbing the illegal sale and consumption of unlicensed alcohol.

Seizure of Weapons

To tackle the threat posed by illegal arms, the police apprehended four individuals for possessing sharp-edged weapons. A total of four knives were recovered. Authorities have stated that such action is part of ongoing efforts to eliminate potential threats and reinforce a sense of safety among the public.

Anti-Gambling Operations

Illegal gambling also came under the scanner during Operation Kavach. One person was caught red-handed with Rs. 1,360 in cash and gambling paraphernalia. The police raided several suspected locations believed to be hubs for unlawful betting activities.

Preventive and Legal Measures

The North-West District Police also took substantial preventive action to maintain peace and deter future violations. These included binding down individuals under various provisions:
