New Delhi: A 43-year-old man, identified as Deepak, was shot dead by unidentified assailants while on a morning walk with his daughter in the Bawana area of Delhi. The incident occurred early Thursday, sending shockwaves through the local community.
According to Delhi Police, Deepak was attacked by unknown individuals who opened fire at him in a sudden and targeted assault. His daughter, who was accompanying him at the time, sustained an injury to her hand during the attack. She was promptly taken to a nearby hospital, where she is reported to be out of danger.
“Unidentified persons opened fire at Deepak. His daughter was injured in the hand and is now stable. Further investigation is underway,” the police stated.
The motive behind the murder remains unclear. Investigators are currently examining the crime scene and have begun scanning footage from nearby CCTV cameras in hopes of identifying the culprits. A case has been registered, and multiple teams have been constituted to trace and apprehend those responsible for the killing.
Meanwhile, in a separate case, Delhi Police have arrested a suspect involved in a stabbing incident that took place on June 22 in the Khajuri Khas area. In that incident, a man was reportedly stabbed while attempting to stop another individual from harassing a girl in the locality.
The accused, a 20-year-old man, had fled the scene following the attack. After an investigation and manhunt, police were able to locate and arrest the suspect. A case has been registered under Sections 109(1) and 3(5) of the newly implemented Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
The arrest comes as part of the police’s intensified efforts to crack down on rising street crimes and harassment cases across the city. Authorities have assured that all necessary steps are being taken to ensure swift justice in both cases.
