In a heinous crime, which took place in Manipur’s conflict-torn Jiribam district, the autopsy report revealed signs of third-degree torture showing embedded nails, burns of a 31 year old tribal women.
Report says that she was brutally raped before her house was set on a fire. The FIR registered by the Jiribam police said her husband said that at night, the militants ransacked his house and set fire to 17 houses in Zarwan village.
In contrast to this, An autopsy conducted on the woman’s body at Assam’s Silchar Medical College could not determine whether the woman had been raped as no evidence of vaginal smear was found. Authorities are stepping up efforts to identify and arrest perpetrators to prevent violence.
