A wooden platform fell during the ‘Adinath Nirvana Laddu Festival’ in Baghpat, Uttar Pradesh, trapping several devotees beneath the debris and killing at least five persons. Reports attested to the fact that over 80 other people were hurt in the collision.

According to the report, the tragic event happened at the “Laddo Ceremony” taking place at Manastambh complex, located near Gandhi Road, in a Jain Nirvana festival in Uttar Pradesh’s Baghpat City.

The injured were transported to hospitals in e-rickshaws since there were no ambulances available. While rescue operations are being conducted at the area, the tragic scene was a place of bewilderment and fear. The Badaut Police team responded to the incident by showing up on the scene quickly to control the situation and help with the rescue efforts.

Arpit Vijayvargiya, the Superintendent of Police for Baghpat, told reporters that injured individuals are being treated at the hospital. During the Jain community’s ‘Laddu Mahotsav’ celebration in Baraut, the watchtower collapsed. Teams from the police, administration, and fire department arrived at the scene right away following the incident. He added that hospitals in the area received the injured.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has acknowledged the disaster and instructed officials to arrive on the scene right once in order to accelerate the rescue efforts. Additionally, CM Yogi provided guidelines for the appropriate care of the wounded. In addition, he wished the injured people a quick recovery.
