Nobel Laureate Muhammad Yunus’ interim government in Bangladesh on Tuesday cancelled the passport of ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina along with 96 others for their alleged involvement in enforced disappearances and killings during the July-August mass uprising.
Chief Adviser’s Deputy Press Secretary Azad Majumder stated that out of the 97 alleged individuals 22 people are purported to have been involved in enforced disappearances while the rest 75 people including Hasina are accused of involvement in the violence of July killings resulting in the death of hundreds.
Earlier today, a complaint was filed against Hasina along with 15 others with the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) for committing crime against humanity during a demonstration protesting Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Bangladesh in 2021.
According to government data, 17 people were killed in the demonstrations. Further steps were taken to rob the wounded victims of justice and proper treatment.
