A Bangladeshi court has banned the broadcast of a recent speech by former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, labeling it “hate speech.” The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) announced the ban, citing concerns that the speech could impact ongoing investigations and trials. The tribunal court has also banned all previous speeches made by Sheikh Hasina.

The ban comes after Hasina, currently in exile in India, made a virtual address to her supporters from New York, accusing the interim government led by Muhammad Yunus of failing to protect Hindu minorities and alleged genocide. Hasina claimed that Yunus was responsible for “genocide” and had failed to safeguard the rights of minorities, including Hindus.

Prosecutor Golam Monawar Hossain Tamim unraveled that the speech could intimidate witnesses or interfere with judicial proceedings. Former PM Hasina is accused in several cases under investigation.
