A 34-year-old AI technician, Atul Subhash, 34, found died by suicide at his home in Marathahalli, Bengaluru. He was found hanging with a 24-page letter tucked in his t-shirt with “JUSTICE IS DUE” written on it. The letter consisted of instances of him getting harassed by his wife Nikita Singhania, and mother-in-law, a conversation between him and his mother-in-law, money demanded by his in-laws and Judge Rita Kaushik, a letter to his son, and his last wishes.

He also recorded a video before hanging himself. In the video, he said, “This is not a suicide video, this is a testimony of every married man in India facing false cases from his wife and a one-sided battle in the court.” In the last word, he says, “I refuse to pay, and I choose death because. I don’t want my money to be used against me by my opponents to torture me and my family.
He gave proof of the money he gave to his in-laws and the harassment caused by them, he also mentioned his wife didn’t let him see his son for 3 years and demanded RS 2 lakh for child maintenance when she was a working woman herself.
They pressed him with 9 cases including dowry chargers mentioning the wife’s father died due to the shock of huge dowry demand, domestic violence, and rape. The wife demanded 3 crores alimony to which the judge said “You must have 3 crores that’s why she is demanding it”, and laughed. As a cherry on top of the cake, the judge said she would have 5 lakhs to settle this case without him getting jail time.
Before taking his life Subhash the deceased sent a message at midnight on a WhatsApp group of an NGO which deals with domestic violence harassment by women informing that he was taking his life. A group member after seeing the message in morning alerted the police .
At last, he demanded his wife doesn’t get anything from his wealth, his parents to have custody of his sons so that they can raise him with better morals, and his ashes to be only immersed in ganga when he gets justice with all his wishes being fulfilled and if they are not fulfilled he demanded his ashes to be thrown in gutter near court. The investigation is still on going.
