A Bengaluru Police Constable Thippanna Alugur committed himself on Friday night after claiming that his wife and father-in-law had harassed him.

The constable of the Hulimavu police station and a resident of the Handiganur village in Vijayapura, was identified as the dead. Alugur’s passing occurs just a few days after 34-year-old engineer Atul Subhash committed himself in Bengaluru, purportedly as a result of harassment from his divorced wife and her relatives.

According to a police official, Alugur left a one-page death note in which he claimed that his father-in-law Yamunappa and wife Parvathi had harassed him. According to the police, he was married to Parvathi for three years.

A police officer claims that following a heated altercation at their rented house in Electronics City, Yamunappa contacted Alugur and verbally insulted him using disparaging language. Authorities claim

that Yamunappa had contacted Alugur on December 12 and threatened to “finish him off” if he didn’t die, as Alugur hinted in the death letter.

Before taking his own life, Alugur allegedly stole a government-issued patrol bike, known as the “Cheetah,” from his fellow classmate Malappa, according to the police.

Basamma, Alugur’s 50-year-old mother, complained to the police. Under sections 108 (abetting suicide), 351 (2) (criminal intimidation), and 352 (intent to incite a breach of the peace) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), the police filed a complaint against Yamunappa Parvathi, and Malappa.
