The BJP intensified its accusation of a “nexus” between the Congress and billionaire George Soros by focusing on former party president Sonia Gandhi and claiming that she was connected to an organization that has supported Kashmir as a “separate entity.” BJP claimed that this association shows the influence of foreign entities in India’s internal affairs.

“Sonia Gandhi, as the co-president of Forum of Democratic Leaders in Asia Pacific (FDL-AP) Foundation, is linked to an organisation financed by the George Soros Foundation. Notably, FDL-AP Foundation has expressed their views that treat Kashmir as a separate entity,” BJP posted on X.

BJP further alleged the involvement of Salil Shetty, vice-president of the Soros-funded Open Society Foundations, in the Congress-led ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’, where he was seen alongside Rahul Gandhi. BJP highlighted Congress MP Shashi Tharoor’s acknowledgement of Soros as an “old friend” too.

BJP Lok Sabha MP Nishikant Dubey stated that he would question Rahul Gandhi in the Lok Sabha on this matter, even though the US denied accusations of supporting efforts to destabilize India.

He asserted that the opposition had teamed up with a Hungarian-American businessman and the media outlet Organised Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP) to harm India’s economy and discredit the Modi administration.
