BJP Mahila Morcha leaders and workers on Thursday, organized a protest near the residence of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal, charging him of betraying women with the ‘Mahila Samman Yojana.’
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) claimed that a similar scheme was promised by AAP ahead of the Punjab Assembly elections in 2022, offering ₹1,100 per month to women, but the promise remains unfulfilled.
The Delhi Government announced the Mukhya Mantri Mahila Samman Yojana in its 2024-25 Budget, guaranteeing ₹1,000 per month to women. Former Chief Minister of Delhi Arvind Kejriwal also pledged to increase the amount to ₹2,100 if AAP comes to power in the upcoming Assembly elections.
BJP Mahila Morcha president Richa Pandey, protesters marched from Ashoka Road to Mr. Kejriwal’s residence at 5, Ferozeshah Road, but were halted by police. Some protesters even climbed barricades and raised slogans against Kejriwal and the Aam Aadmi Party.
Pandey criticized the AAP, stating, “The party had made similar promises during the Punjab elections but failed to deliver ₹1,100 per month to the women after coming to power. Now, they are once again misleading the women of Delhi with the ‘Mukhya Mantri Mahila Samman Yojana.’
