Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) MP Nishikant Dubey wrote a letter to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, requesting him to begin a privilege motion on Tuesday against Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi over his speech in the Lok Sabha yesterday.
Dubey said that Congress leader in his speech, “not only shamelessly distorted the historical and substantive facts, but also made an attempt to ridicule our country and lower the prestige of our Republic.”.
Gandhi, in his speech in Lok Sabha during the discussion on the Motion of Thanks on President Murmu’s Address, alleged that the Chinese have entered inside India’s territory, but PM Modi refused it. He substantiated his claims, stating that the chief of the army had said that Chinese forces were inside “our territory.”
He further said, “The PM has refused that Chinese troops are inside our territory, but for some reason, our army keeps talking to the Chinese about their entry into our territory, and our chief of army staff has said that the Chinese are inside our territory,” sparking an uproar in the Lok Sabha.
Defence minister Rajnath Singh responded to Rahul Gandhi’s speech, saying that he made “false allegations” about the remarks of the army chief about the circumstances that arose at the India-China border.
Rajnath Singh, in a post on X, wrote, “Rahul Gandhi, in his speech in the Parliament, made false allegations about the statement of the Army Chief on the situation on the India-China border.”
Singh said the Army chief never used these words. And he further expressed disappointment about the Congress leader’s involvement in the matters of “national interest.”
He further wrote, “The words attributed to the Army Chief by Shri Rahul Gandhi were never spoken by him at any time. It is a matter of deep regret that Shri Rahul Gandhi should indulge in irresponsible politics on matters of national interest.”
The senior BJP leader said the army chief’s statement pointed out only the disturbance caused by traditional patrolling by both nations.
Singh alleged that China had occupied 38,000 sq km of land in Aksai Chin as a result of the 1962 conflict under Congress rule. “Gandhi may consider introspecting this phase of our history,” Singh said.
