In a determined effort to combat smuggling along the Indo-Bangladesh border, the Border Security Force (BSF) in Tripura has demonstrated exceptional vigilance and strategic operational capabilities. Their relentless actions have successfully intercepted numerous attempts to smuggle prohibited items, significantly contributing to national security.
Throughout January, the BSF’s operations resulted in the prevention of smuggling activities valued at an impressive Rs 7.65 crores. This includes a variety of contraband items such as Phensedyl, Eskuf, sugar, cattle, and medicines, alongside Indian currency amounting to Rs 20 lakhs. In a notable anti-narcotics initiative, the BSF also eradicated approximately 1,55,000 Ganja plants, further underscoring their commitment to tackling drug-related issues in the state.
The BSF’s crackdown has not only focused on seizing illicit goods but has also led to the detention of 21 individuals, including both Indian and Bangladeshi nationals. This highlights the security forces’ unwavering resolve to combat crime and maintain law and order in the region.
Tripura, the third-smallest state in India, is characterized by its isolated hilly terrain and a significant indigenous population. Covering an area of 10,491 square kilometers, it shares a porous border of 856 kilometers with Bangladesh, which poses unique challenges for law enforcement.
