On Sunday, a case was lodged over a clash between police and followers of Hindu monk Chinmoy Krishna Das on the court premises in Chittagong, Bangladesh.
The case, filed by Enamul Haque, a Hefazat-e-Islam activist, named Das as the main accused alongside 164 identified people and up to 500 unidentified persons. Haque alleged he was attacked by Das’ followers on November 26 at the Chittagong court premises for wearing traditional attire. He claimed the assault left him with a fractured right hand and head injuries, requiring hospital treatment. He attributed the delay in filing the complaint to his prolonged recovery.
This incident is part of a series of clashes linked to the imprisonment of Chinmoy Krishna Das, a spokesperson for the Bangladesh Som Milito Sanatani Jagran Jote.
In another development, a businessman filed a separate complaint last week, alleging he was assaulted near Rangam Cinema Hall on 26 November. This case names 29 individuals, including members of political organizations and ISKCON, along with 40 to 50 unidentified persons.
