New Delhi/Thiruvananthapuram:
CG3 (Connecting Governed Governing and Governance), a pioneering organization committed to bridging governance and grassroots realities, has unveiled a bold roadmap for its future mission—emphasizing legal awareness, mediation training, and community empowerment.
In a statement issued by Adv. (Dr.) K.P. Kylasanatha Pillay, Senior Advocate of the Supreme Court and CG3 Mentor, the organization reaffirmed its core objective: ensuring access to justice and legal empowerment for marginalized and underrepresented communities.
New Centres and Training Initiatives
As part of its strategic expansion, CG3 has proposed the establishment of Mediation Centres in multiple locations including Dubai, Delhi, Kerala (Kochi, Pathanamthitta, Thiruvananthapuram), and Puducherry.
These centres are envisioned to offer accessible dispute resolution mechanisms outside traditional courtrooms, making justice more reachable to the common citizen.
The organization also aims to intensify training programs for personnel of Local Self Government Departments (LSGD), along with preparing and submitting targeted proposals and projects to Central and State governments focused on strengthening grassroots governance.
LAMP: Legal Awareness & Monitoring Project
One of CG3’s flagship initiatives is LAMP (Legal Awareness and Monitoring Project). This programme aims to instill legal consciousness among diverse target groups, including school students, dropouts, tribal and rural populations, residents of slums and old-age homes, prisoners, pensioners, and employees of IT companies. It serves both as a sensitization tool and as a stepping stone for familiarizing the public with legal rights and responsibilities.
The LAMP project has already made its presence felt across 67 schools nationwide, targeting students from classes 8 to 12. The curriculum not only educates children on essential legal principles but also introduces them to law as a potential career path.
Celebrated Webinars and National Outreach
Since its inception, CG3 has leveraged virtual platforms to conduct a series of high-impact national and international webinars. The organization began its journey with a National Webinar on the critical constitutional theme of Contempt of Court, inaugurated by Hon’ble Justice (Retd.) Cyriac Joseph, Former Supreme Court Judge and currently Kerala Lok Ayukta. Justice (Retd.) V. Chitambaresh, Former Kerala High Court Judge, also delivered an address.
Subsequent webinars have explored a wide array of themes such as Human Rights vis-à-vis Government and Human Rights vis-à-vis Judiciary, featuring speakers like Dr. Subramanian Swamy, MP, and Justice (Retd.) Kurian Joseph of the Supreme Court. These events reinforced CG3’s standing as a platform for inclusive and ideology-neutral intellectual discourse.
One notable event, titled Confluence of Ideas, brought together Kerala’s top political and administrative leaders to underscore the belief that while ideologies may differ, shared ideas can foster unified progress. The session featured current Law Minister Adv. P. Rajeev, Leader of Opposition Adv. V. D. Satheesan, and former KPSC Chairman Dr. K.S. Radhakrishnan.
Connecting Governance with Communities
CG3 marked its first anniversary with the launch of a State-wide Workshop Series for elected members of Local Self Government Institutions (Panchayats, Municipalities, and Corporations) in Kerala. Inaugurated by then Minister for LSGD, Sri M.V. Govindan Master, the workshops were designed to equip over 21,000 elected representatives with legal awareness and governance tools.
In keeping with its vision to empower from the grassroots, CG3 has undertaken several legal education initiatives for various groups, including schoolchildren, law students, tribal communities, and marginalized populations.
Mediation Training and Future Projects
Strengthening its alternative dispute resolution framework, CG3 collaborated with the Mediation and Conciliation Project Committee (MCPC) of the Supreme Court and Kerala State Mediation and Conciliation Centre (KSMCC) to conduct a 40-hour Mediation Training Programme in Thiruvananthapuram. The trainees included lawyers, elected local representatives, and members of tribal and Dalit communities.
This initiative lays the groundwork for setting up a fully operational private mediation centre in Kerala, with plans to replicate the model in other states and internationally.
Vision for the Road Ahead
With continued emphasis on legal aid, public empowerment, and democratic participation, CG3 is poised to deepen its footprint. “Tomorrow to fresh woods and pastures new…,” quoted Dr. Kylasanatha Pillay, reflecting the organization’s forward-looking vision and dynamic strategy.
From legal workshops and school-level sensitization to nationwide webinars and policy submissions, CG3’s work stands as a testament to the power of grassroots initiatives in shaping an equitable society. Through its multipronged approach and strong leadership, CG3 is redefining access to justice—one community at a time.
