Congress MP Mukul Wasnik on Monday targeted the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Rastriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) to embrace gender equality by considering the appointment of a woman as president and a woman as Sarsanghchalak, highlighting the importance of diverse leadership in their organizations.

Our position aligns with the belief that women should receive reservations, and we have demonstrated our commitment to this cause through our efforts, he said. Should you choose to advance this initiative? You will have our unwavering support, unequivocally. However, it is pertinent to question whether we have witnessed a woman in a leadership role within the Bharatiya Janata Party at the national level.

Till date, we have not seen a woman serve as the president of the Bhartiya Janata Party,” Mukul Wasnik articulated during his speech.

The Congress MP highlighted the importance of inclusivity in leadership by pointing out that the RSS, regarded as the ideological backbone of the BJP, has never had a woman serve as its head (Sarsanghchalak).

“As the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) approaches its 100th anniversary, it’s worth considering how a more diverse leadership could enhance the organization. There has yet to be a woman in this key role,” Wasnik remarked.

In a fiery speech he has set the political stage ablaze. The Congress MP has challenged the BJP’s relentless attacks on India’s revered first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru.

With a compelling narrative, the MP argued that the BJP’s disdain for Nehru is fuelled by his staunch opposition to the creation of a “Hindu Pakistan” during the grave times of partition—a stance that continues to resonate in today’s politically charged environment.

In a passionate appeal, he stated, “It was uplifting to hear praises for the visionary Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and to witness Sardar Patel’s name being honoured. Yet, the sheer vitriol directed at our first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, left me astounded.”

His remarks have not only reignited a critical conversation about Nehru’s legacy but have also thrown the spotlight on the powerful narratives shaping modern Indian politics.

As debates heat up and political rivalries intensify, the question lingering in the air is: How will these historical tensions impact the very fabric of India’s unity and identity in the years to come? The unfolding drama promises to captivate the nation as it navigates through its complex past.
