A 52-year-old businessman Sunil Jain was shot dead in Shahdara, east Delhi, on Saturday morning. He was out on his morning walk when two gunmen approached him and started fire.

The tragedy occurred in the popular Geeta Colony neighborhood, causing shockwaves across the community. According to witnesses, the offenders approached on a motorbike and fired numerous close-range bullets at Jain before fleeing the area. Jain suffered gunshot wounds to his chest and head, and despite efforts by onlookers to transfer him to a local hospital, he was pronounced dead upon arrival. According to his family, Jain did not have any rivalry with anyone, the police added.

Jain’s friends, with whom he used to walk in the morning,  the shooters initially told the victim that his phone had fallen off. They then asked him his name. Within seconds, one of the accused got down from the bike and opened fire.

“Jain told the accused not to shoot at him but they did not listen. Everything happened within two to three minutes. The shooters were masked,” the friends said. The crime team has reached the spot. Further investigation is underway,” Deputy Commissioner of Police, Shahdara, said.
