New Delhi: In a significant breakthrough, the Central Range team of the Delhi Crime Branch has apprehended a proclaimed offender who played a key role in a drug supply network in the capital.
The accused, identified as 24-year-old Bhole Shankar alias Shankar, was wanted in a major NDPS Act case registered at Shahbad Dairy police station, Outer North District.
The arrest marks a crucial success for Delhi Police’s ongoing crackdown on organized narcotics syndicates operating across the city.
Strategic Operation Led by Central Range
The operation was carried out under the close supervision of ACP Rajbir Malik. A specialized team was constituted for the task, headed by Inspector Veer Singh and comprising ASI Deep Chand, Head Constables Vinod, Sandeep, Manoj, and Constable Sumit.
Combining ground-level human intelligence with advanced technical surveillance methods, the team launched a targeted operation to track down the accused.
After sustained efforts, the team successfully located and arrested Shankar from his hideout in Sri Nagar Colony, Pritampura, Delhi.
According to officials, Shankar had been on the run for a considerable period and was actively involved in supplying illegal narcotics in various parts of Outer North Delhi.
Proclaimed Offender in High-Profile NDPS Case
Bhole Shankar was named in FIR No. 1014/23 under Sections 22 and 25 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, registered at Shahbad Dairy Police Station.
He had been evading arrest since the registration of the case. The Hon’ble Court had declared him a Proclaimed Offender (PO) on March 21, 2025, after repeated failures to appear before authorities.
The declaration of PO status made him a top priority for law enforcement, as his continued activities posed a threat to public safety and aided the persistence of illicit drug distribution networks.
Key Role in Narcotics Supply Chain
Shankar, a resident of Pitampura, was reportedly a central figure in an organized drug supply chain catering to various localities in Outer North Delhi.
Police sources revealed that he was responsible for the distribution of banned substances and maintained links with other players in the illicit drug trade.
During the investigation, HC Sandeep was instrumental in the technical tracking that led to the accused’s eventual location and capture. The team’s meticulous coordination and dedication were crucial in neutralizing a long-standing threat to the city’s anti-narcotics efforts.
Police Reaffirm Commitment Against Drugs
The arrest underscores the commitment of Delhi Police, particularly the Crime Branch, in targeting high-profile offenders and dismantling drug networks. Authorities have reiterated that such operations will continue with increased intensity to ensure the capital remains safe from the scourge of drugs.
A senior officer involved in the operation remarked, “This arrest is a testament to the relentless work and vigilance of our team. We will continue to pursue such offenders and ensure that those fueling the illegal drug trade are brought to justice.”
The Delhi Police have urged citizens to support their anti-drug initiatives by remaining vigilant and reporting suspicious activities in their localities.
The accused will be presented before the appropriate judicial authority and further investigation is underway to trace his associates and uncover the full extent of the network he was involved in.
