New Delhi, July 19:
Delhi is all set to witness a musical extravaganza as popular singer-composer Himesh Reshammiya brings his much-anticipated ‘Cap-Mania’ tour to the capital. The high-energy concert is scheduled to take place at the Indira Gandhi Arena indoor stadium on July 19 and 20, from 3 PM to 10 PM on both days. With thousands of fans expected to attend, the Delhi Traffic Police has issued a comprehensive advisory outlining diversions, entry guidelines, and strict parking regulations to ensure smooth traffic management and public safety.
Key Roads to Avoid
As part of the traffic plan, commuters have been urged to steer clear of major roads expected to face heavy congestion due to the concert. The restricted areas and diversions will be in effect from 12 PM to 12 midnight on both days. The roads to avoid include:
-
IP Marg (Mahatma Gandhi Marg)
-
Vikas Marg
-
Ring Road from Rajghat to IP Depot
No heavy vehicles or buses will be allowed on the stretch from Rajghat to IP Marg, significantly affecting traffic flow in Central and East Delhi. The restrictions aim to reduce gridlock near the venue, especially during peak concert hours.
Entry and Gate Access
Concert-goers are advised to use specific routes for smoother access to the stadium gates.
-
Gate Nos. 7 and 8: Accessible from Velodrome Road.
-
Gate Nos. 21, 22, and 23: Located on Ring Road, entry via MGM Road.
-
Gate Nos. 16 and 18: Also situated on Ring Road, entry allowed from MGM Road.
Event organizers and authorities have emphasized using the designated entry points to maintain crowd discipline and ensure hassle-free movement of attendees.
Parking Regulations
In view of the expected crowd and limited space, parking around the venue will be strictly regulated:
-
Only vehicles with valid parking labels will be allowed in designated parking zones near the stadium.
-
The parking label must be displayed on the car’s windscreen, and the vehicle number must be clearly mentioned on it.
-
Vehicles without these labels will not be allowed near the venue under any circumstances.
-
Label holders are advised to approach via Ring Road, with parking lot entry from MGM Road.
Additionally, no parking will be permitted on Ring Road from Rajghat to IP Flyover on both days. Vehicles found violating this restriction will be towed away and penalized as per legal provisions.
Public Advisory
Delhi Traffic Police has issued a strong appeal to the general public and daily commuters to plan their journeys carefully and avoid the affected zones during concert hours. The advisory, shared via social media and public bulletins, aims to minimize inconvenience and ensure the safety of all—fans, local residents, and commuters alike.
To ensure better mobility and prevent bottlenecks, police presence has been heightened, and enforcement teams will be actively monitoring all restricted areas. Additional signage and traffic marshals will be deployed near the stadium to guide vehicles and attendees.
The Cap-Mania concert is not just a musical event but a logistical challenge for Delhi’s traffic authorities. With enthusiastic fans pouring in from across the city and beyond, following traffic rules and advisories becomes crucial. Attendees are encouraged to carpool, use public transport wherever possible, and arrive early to avoid last-minute congestion.
The two-day celebration promises high-voltage performances from Himesh Reshammiya, and with cooperation from the public, it is expected to be a smooth and memorable experience for all.
