In a significant move Delhi Lieutenant Governor Mr. Vinai Kumar Saxena has directed authorities to implement tobacco-free guidelines in schools and colleges.
The directive is a part of nationwide campaign launched by ministry of education to make educational institutions tobacco free. The campaign is named ToFEI tobacco free educational institutions. It aime to prevent minors and youth from tobacco and make educational institutions tobacco free.
The ministry has ordered guidelines:
- Displaying signage : Tobacco free area inside the premises of educational institutions.
- Tobacco control activities organizing at least one campaign in educational institutions every six months.
- Tobacco monitors to oversee to oversee the implementation of tobacco free guidelines
- No Tobacco sale ensuring that shops within hundred yards do not sell tobacco products.
This directive is a significant step towards creating a healthier environment for students and healthier nation with the power of youth
