New Delhi: In a commendable operation, the Anti Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) of the Delhi Police Crime Branch has successfully recovered two missing/kidnapped minor children from different parts of the national capital. Both victims — a 16-year-old girl and a 14-year-old boy — have been safely reunited with their families.

The operation, led by the ISO 9001:2015-certified AHTU, highlights the continued efforts of the Delhi Police in handling sensitive cases involving minors with urgency and dedication.

First Case

The first incident involved a 16-year-old girl who was reported missing from the Budh Vihar area on July 5, 2025. A case was registered under Section 137(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at the Budh Vihar police station the same day.

Given the seriousness of the matter, especially considering the age of the victim, the AHTU took swift action. The team, comprising Inspector Manoj Dahiya, ASI Gopal Krishan, Woman Head Constable Sweeti (No. 2799/NW), and Constable Dharamraj, carried out the investigation under the supervision of ACP Ashok Sharma.

Acting as the nodal agency for such cases in Delhi Police, the unit launched a coordinated search operation. The officers collected inputs from the victim’s parents, relatives, and friends, while simultaneously conducting technical surveillance and manual checks.

Their relentless efforts led them to Budh Vihar itself, where the missing girl was finally located. During questioning, the girl, who is a Class 11 student, informed the police that she had left home on her own without notifying anyone. There was no immediate indication of foul play.

Second Case

On the same day, July 5, another case of a missing minor was reported at the Shahbad Dairy police station. A 14-year-old boy was reported kidnapped or missing, and a case was promptly filed under Section 137(2) of the BNS.

Once again, the AHTU stepped in due to the delicate nature of the case. The same team—Inspector Dahiya, ASI Gopal Krishan (No. 1318/Crime), W/HC Sweeti, and Ct. Dharamraj (No. 1346/Crime)—took charge of the investigation under ACP Ashok Sharma’s supervision.

The officers diligently gathered information from the boy’s family and friends. Unlike the first case, where technology aided the search, this recovery relied primarily on manual investigation. After following up on several leads, the team successfully traced the boy to Sector-24, Rohini.

Both Children Reunited With Families

Following the successful recovery of both minors, they were handed over to the respective Investigating Officers of the Budh Vihar and Shahbad Dairy police stations for further legal procedures and counselling, if necessary. Initial investigations indicate that both children had left home voluntarily, though official proceedings are still ongoing to ensure their safety and well-being.

Senior officers of the Crime Branch have lauded the efforts of the AHTU team for their swift response, professional coordination, and compassionate handling of these sensitive cases. The department reiterated its commitment to the safety of children and proactive measures against trafficking and abduction.

Delhi Police Urge Vigilance

With two successful recoveries in a single day, the Delhi Police have once again urged the public to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious activity involving minors. Parents are also encouraged to maintain open communication with their children and monitor their activities, especially in the digital space.

The AHTU, as a specialized unit, continues to play a vital role in the prevention of human trafficking and in recovering missing persons, particularly minors. These recent successes reflect not just operational efficiency but also the human-centric approach of the team involved.
