New Delhi: In a swift and coordinated operation, the Inter-State Cell (ISC) of Delhi Police’s Crime Branch has apprehended two men allegedly involved in a gruesome attempted murder case in Outer Delhi’s Raj Park area. The accused — Akash, also known as Gaurav or Gori, and Akhil, alias Nonu, both 24 years old — were taken into custody within 24 hours of the violent assault that left two brothers seriously injured.
The Incident
The attack occurred around midnight between June 29 and 30 in the jurisdiction of Police Station Raj Park. According to the FIR, the victims, identified as Sourav and Gaurav, were ambushed by three individuals near their residence. One of the attackers was reportedly carrying a knife.
The assailants beat the brothers mercilessly and inflicted knife wounds, particularly targeting Gaurav, who later filed a police complaint. The victims sustained multiple serious injuries and were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. Following the incident, a case was registered at PS Raj Park under relevant sections of attempted murder.
Rapid Response and Arrests
Acting promptly, the ISC Crime Branch led by Inspector Satender Poonia launched a manhunt to trace the absconding suspects. The team was operating under the guidance of ACP Ramesh Chandra Lamba. Within hours of the registration of the case, the police began tracking leads and gathering intelligence.
The breakthrough came on June 30, when Head Constable Ravinder Rana received specific input about the whereabouts of the accused. Two separate raids were carried out by a team including SIs Mukesh and Sanjay Kanojia, ASI Vinay Singh, and HC Ashish.
Akash was arrested from Nangli Sakrawati in South West Delhi, while Akhil was nabbed from Surya Enclave in Rohini. Both were taken into custody without resistance and brought in for questioning.
Investigation Progress
During interrogation, both accused confessed to their involvement in the brutal attack, along with their associate, Sahil alias Monty, who remains at large. According to their statements, the group had targeted the brothers with the intent to cause grievous harm. One of them wielded a knife while the others joined in the assault before fleeing the scene.
Police believe the motive behind the attack may be linked to an ongoing personal dispute. The investigation is still underway to confirm the exact circumstances and involvement of the third suspect.
