Delhi: In a decisive action against illegal immigration, the Foreigner Cell of the North-West District, Delhi Police, arrested three Bangladeshi nationals found residing unlawfully in India. The arrests were made during a late-night operation conducted between July 14 and 15 in the Mukherjee Nagar area.

The suspects, who had been under surveillance for over ten days, were reportedly engaged in begging and petty theft in various parts of Delhi’s North-West District.

Officials seized three identification documents and smartphones that were installed with the banned IMO app, frequently used for cross-border communication.

Strategic Surveillance and Coordinated Action

Acting on specific intelligence inputs about suspicious movements of foreign nationals during the night hours in Mukherjee Nagar, the Foreigner Cell launched a targeted operation.

A special team was formed under the direct supervision of Inspector Vipin Kumar and the overall supervision of ACP Rajeev Kumar. The team comprised Sub-Inspectors Shyam Bir and Sapan, ASIs Rajender Singh and Vijay, Head Constables Vikram, Kapil Kumar, Tika Ram, Praveen, Vikash Yadav, Woman Head Constables Seema and Deepak, and Constables Nishant Mattoo, Hawa Singh, and Deepak Bangar.

After conducting a swift and strategic operation, the police successfully apprehended the suspects. They were taken in for thorough verification.

Verification and Interrogation Reveal Illegal Stay

Following their detention, the police conducted a detailed scrutiny of the suspects’ identities and travel documents. As part of the investigation, information was retrieved from their smartphones to confirm their nationality.

The results conclusively established that the individuals were Bangladeshi citizens residing in India without valid documentation or permits.

During interrogation, the three confessed to entering the country illegally and engaging in rag-picking, begging, and occasional thefts to sustain themselves. Their illegal activities had gone unnoticed until residents of the area raised concerns about their frequent suspicious movements during the night.

Details of the Apprehended Individuals

The three Bangladeshi nationals arrested have been identified as:

  1. Md. Akram Hossain (43 years), son of Late Ramjeet, hailing from Gugga Bil Padda village, Jessore district, Bangladesh.
  2. Khokan Molla @ Khokan (44 years), son of Md. Kuti Molla @ Siddik Mullah, resident of Shiruail village, Madaripur district, Bangladesh.
  3. Md. Lal Mia Howlader (32 years), son of Md. Abdul Motin Howlader, from Balipara village, Pirojpur district, Khulna division, Bangladesh.

Each of them was found in possession of identity documents suspected to be fake or forged and mobile phones with banned communication apps.

Seizures and Legal Action

During the operation, the police seized three mobile phones with the banned IMO application installed—an app often misused for unauthorised international communication.

Also recovered were three identification documents, which are now being analyzed to determine their authenticity and source.

The Delhi Police has initiated legal proceedings under the Foreigners Act and relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.

Authorities are working in coordination with the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) to expedite their deportation process.

Police Reaffirms Commitment to Immigration Control

Officials have reiterated that strict enforcement of immigration laws remains a high priority for the Delhi Police. “This operation is a result of careful surveillance, inter-agency cooperation, and unwavering commitment to national security.

We will continue to identify and act against illegal immigrants threatening the safety and stability of our neighborhoods,” said an officer involved in the operation.

The successful operation underlines the growing emphasis on identifying undocumented foreign nationals who not only flout immigration regulations but may also be involved in illegal or antisocial activities.

The Foreigner Cell has assured that further crackdowns will follow as part of a larger strategy to curb unauthorized entry and residence in the capital.

Authorities have urged citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious individuals or activities in their localities.
