New Delhi: In a significant action against illegal immigration, the Operations Cell of South West District Police apprehended five Bangladeshi nationals — including four adults and an infant — who were found residing unlawfully in Delhi. The arrest is part of an ongoing drive to curb illegal foreign presence in the capital.

The detained individuals were identified as Ukil Amin (45), Abdul Rahim (27), Mohd. Zahidul Islam (25), Jimmu Khatoon (20), and a 40-day-old child, Mohd. Zakir. All of them were found without valid Indian identity documents and were in possession of only Bangladeshi identification papers.

According to police sources, the group had entered India in 2023 through illegal means. Initially employed at brick kilns in Gaya, Bihar, they reportedly lost their jobs recently and travelled to Delhi in search of labour work. However, their presence in Delhi Cantt. came under police scanner following a tip-off.

Swift Action by South West District Police

On receiving credible information about the presence of illegal foreign nationals in the Delhi Cantt. area, a special team of the Operations Cell swung into action. The informer led the police to the suspects, who were immediately questioned by the team.

Upon being asked for identification documents, the individuals failed to provide any valid Indian papers and admitted to being Bangladeshi citizens who had crossed into India without authorization.

The police team, consisting of SI Ved Prakash, ASI Vinod Kumar, ASI Dharmender, ASI Jaipal, W/ASI Sandhya, HC Mohit, HC Narender, HC Manoj Moral, HC Kishan, HC Prashant, and HC Devender, was formed under the leadership of Inspector Ram Kumar. The operation was carried out under the close supervision of ACP Vijay Kumar, ACP/Operations, South West District.

Officials confirmed that all legal procedures were promptly completed. The Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO), Delhi, was roped in to initiate deportation proceedings against the apprehended individuals.

Vigilance Against Illegal Migrants

The Delhi Police have been maintaining heightened surveillance across the city, particularly in areas where illegal migrants are suspected to be living.

This operation forms part of a wider campaign by the South West District to prevent crimes linked to undocumented residents and ensure that law and order is maintained effectively.

A senior police official stated, “Our goal is to identify and take strict action against any foreign national residing in India illegally. The success of this operation reflects our commitment to national security and legal enforcement.”

The arrested individuals reportedly travelled from Gaya to Delhi by train after being dismissed from their previous employment. During interrogation, they revealed that they had no alternate shelter or employment and were searching for work in Delhi.

Police sources also informed that only photocopies of their Bangladeshi identity cards were found in their possession. There was no record of any valid visa or passport permitting their stay in India.

The full list of apprehended migrants includes:

  1. Ukil Amin, 45, resident of Shekhadi Donia, Jatrabari, Dhaka, Bangladesh

Authorities reiterated their stance of zero tolerance toward unauthorized migrants and affirmed that similar operations would continue in the future to ensure compliance with the law.
