In a significant operation the Delhi police have dismantled a chain of illegal immigrant racket, comprising 11 individuals including five bangladeshi nationals. The arrests were made following an investigation into a murder in Sangam vihar, which uncovered the victim’s involvement in creating counterfeit Aadhaar cards for Bangladeshi immigrants.

According to the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) South, Ankit Chauhan stated that the arrested individuals aided bangladeshi nationals by producing counterfeit Aadhaar cards, voter ID’s and PAN cards. The documents were created with the help of a fake website, Janata prints, operated by Rajat Mishra, which charged a nominal fee of Rs 20 each forged document.

During the operation the police discovered 21 fake Aadhaar cards, six PAN cards, and four voter IDs. Chauhan stated that ‘ the illegal immigrants used jungle routes and express trains to enter indian territory.

The arrests are part of a larger effort to stop illegal immigration in Delhi. The Lieutenant Governor had ordered the police to find and punish illegal Bangladeshi immigrants. So far, the police have identified over 1,000 such immigrants.

The police are now verifying the identities of people living in Delhi through door-to-door checks and questioning. Special teams are also investigating how these immigrants entered India and whether they used fake documents to vote in elections.
