Delhi Police Nabs Drug Peddler With 1.2 Kg Ganja

Delhi Police arrested a 28-year-old man from Shalimar Bagh and recovered 1.264 kg of ganja; the accused had been supplying drugs across the city for several years.

New Delhi: In a significant action against drug trafficking, the Delhi Police apprehended a 28-year-old man involved in narcotics distribution and seized over a kilogram of ganja from his possession.

The arrest was made by a patrolling team from Police Station Shalimar Bagh, North-West District, during a routine operation aimed at cracking down on drug-related activities in the area.

The accused, identified as Kuljeet, son of Sohan Singh and a resident of Shalimar Bagh, was found in possession of 1.264 kilograms of ganja.

He was taken into custody from the Haiderpur village area while he was allegedly searching for potential customers to sell the illegal substance.

Routine Patrol Turns into Drug Bust

On July 16, 2025, Head Constable Amit (748/NW) and Constable Krishan (1361/NW), both from PS Shalimar Bagh, were on patrol duty in the vicinity of Haiderpur village.

While moving through the area, they noticed a man carrying a white polythene bag and behaving suspiciously. Upon being stopped for questioning, the individual identified himself as Kuljeet. A subsequent search of the bag he was carrying revealed a sizable quantity of ganja, weighing approximately 1.264 kg.

Realizing the severity of the find, the patrolling officers immediately detained the suspect and brought him to the police station.

A case was promptly registered under FIR No. 428/25, dated July 16, 2025, under Section 20(b) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

Years of Peddling Revealed During Interrogation

Following his arrest, Kuljeet underwent sustained interrogation during which he confessed to having been involved in drug peddling for the past few years.

According to the police, he admitted to sourcing ganja from various parts of Delhi and distributing it to known and new clients on demand. He also revealed that he often roamed around in different neighborhoods in search of potential customers.

Kuljeet further stated that he turned to drug trafficking in pursuit of quick and easy money, although he has no prior criminal record.

His method of operation involved collecting contraband from multiple suppliers and delivering it directly to clients, avoiding the attention of law enforcement by frequently changing his delivery routes.

Investigation Continues to Uncover Wider Network

Police officials stated that further inquiries are underway to trace any possible links the accused might have with larger narcotics networks or repeat suppliers operating within the city.

Authorities are also probing whether he was part of a broader syndicate or operating independently. His phone and other belongings are being examined to identify clients, contacts, and possible accomplices.
