New Delhi: In a focused operation against illegal drug trafficking under the campaign “Nashamukt Dwarka”, the Delhi Police have arrested a drug supplier in the Dwarka district and seized a cache of restricted pharmaceutical drugs.

The operation was conducted by the Bindapur Police Station team and is part of the wider effort to make the national capital a drug-free zone.

The arrested individual, identified as Sanjay (34), son of Om Parkash, and a resident of Phase-3, Sector-3, Dwarka, was apprehended on July 2, 2025.

Acting on a specific tip-off, police recovered nine tablets of Buprenorphine and Sublingual Vernor N, along with eight vials (10 ml each) of Pheniramine Maleate Injection IP (brand name Avil) from his possession.

Tip-Off Leads to Arrest

According to police officials, Head Constable Mahesh (No. 752/DW) received a credible input that a man would be selling banned pharmaceutical drugs near a park in Sector 3, Dwarka, around 6:30 PM.

A team led by HC Mahesh, along with HC Jai Bhagwan (No. 1900/DW) and HC Neeraj (No. 1950/DW), immediately rushed to the spot.

The suspect was identified at the location as Sanjay, who was subjected to a search. Upon checking, police found the illegal drugs concealed in his possession.

He was arrested on the spot, and a case was registered under FIR No. 420/25 under Sections 8C and 22 of the NDPS Act at Bindapur Police Station.

Background of the Accused

During interrogation, Sanjay confessed to being a habitual drug user and admitted that he has been selling banned drugs to sustain his addiction. He is unemployed and reportedly earns his livelihood through the illegal sale of pharmaceutical narcotics.

Police records revealed that the accused is a repeat offender. He was previously booked in e-FIR No. 1014/2018 under Section 379 IPC at the same police station.

His history of criminal behavior combined with drug abuse marks him as a potential repeat offender, which necessitated the swift action by the police.

Team Behind the Operation

The successful operation was carried out under the leadership of Inspector Bijender, Investigating Officer of PS Bindapur, and under the overall supervision of ACP Ms. Usha Kumari Joshi from the Dabri Sub-Division.

The core team included HC Neeraj, HC Jai Bhagwan, HC Mahesh, HC Sanjeev, Constable Lakhan, and Constable Rajesh Dagar, all of whom played crucial roles in the identification and arrest of the accused.

The Bindapur police team has been working tirelessly to monitor and control criminal elements in the area. The team continues to conduct targeted operations based on intelligence gathered through both digital surveillance and traditional informer networks.

Recovered Items

Police recovered the following items from the accused:

  • 09 tablets of Buprenorphine & Sublingual Vernor N
  • 08 injections of Pheniramine Maleate Injection IP (Avil), 10 ml each

These substances are controlled under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and their sale and distribution are tightly regulated. Their misuse for recreational or addictive purposes poses a significant risk to public health.

Ongoing Investigation

Officials confirmed that further investigation is underway to determine the source of the recovered drugs and whether the accused is part of a larger drug distribution network operating in or around Dwarka. Authorities are also probing potential links to other similar cases in the district.

The Delhi Police reiterated their commitment to keeping the capital drug-free and urged residents to report suspicious activities related to narcotics or illegal substances. Citizens can reach out anonymously through helplines and local police stations to assist in the crackdown.

Anti-Drug Campaign Continues

This arrest marks another success under the Delhi Police’s broader anti-narcotics initiative. The campaign titled “Capital – A Drug-Free Zone” seeks to eliminate the menace of substance abuse through proactive policing, community participation, and awareness efforts.

The Bindapur police team remains vigilant and will continue similar operations in the coming days to ensure the safety and well-being of the residents of Dwarka.
