New Delhi: In a major crackdown on illegal immigration and unlawful activities, the Foreigner Cell of North-West District Police, Delhi, apprehended seven Bangladeshi nationals under the Mukundpur Flyover. The group, which included five transgender individuals and two adult males, was found involved in begging and suspicious nighttime activities.

The operation, conducted on July 7, 2025, was part of a broader initiative to identify and act against illegal migrants in the city. The detainees were discovered to be residing in Delhi without valid travel documents, visas, or other legal permissions, thereby violating the provisions of the Foreigners Act, 1946.

Operation Launched to Trace Illegals

The enforcement drive was executed by a specialized team from the Foreigner Cell, comprising SI Shyam Bir, SI Sapan, ASI Rajender Singh, HC Vikram, HC Kapil Kumar, HC Vikash Yadav, Constable Hawa Singh, and Constable Deepak Bangar.

The operation was carried out under the leadership of Inspector Vipin Kumar and the overall supervision of ACP Rajeev Kumar.

The team scouted various locations including main roads, inner lanes, and high-activity traffic signals, acting on intelligence inputs and continuous patrolling.

During their rounds under the Mukundpur Flyover, they observed five individuals actively engaged in begging. Upon closer inspection and questioning, their identities raised suspicion.

On detailed interrogation, it was revealed that the five were Bangladeshi nationals posing as transgender women. They had illegally entered India and were staying in Delhi without any legitimate documentation.

Following further questioning, they disclosed information about two more adult male accomplices, who were later traced and detained by the team.

Transgender Identity Used to Evade Detection

Police investigations revealed that the five transgender detainees had gone to great lengths to alter their physical appearance and gender presentation.

Using heavy makeup, women’s clothing such as sarees and salwar suits, wigs, bindis, bangles, and other feminine accessories, they effectively disguised themselves. Some even adopted female voice modulation and body language in an attempt to blend into society and evade immigration scrutiny.

These individuals reportedly used their false identities to solicit money during the day through begging, while allegedly engaging in petty criminal activities during the night.

Details of the Apprehended Individuals

The seven individuals detained have been identified as follows:

  1. Foisal (19), transgender, resident of Jamalpur, Bangladesh
  2. Sanjana (26), transgender, resident of Narayanganj, Dhaka, Bangladesh
  3. Fariya (22), transgender, resident of Faridpur, Bangladesh
  4. Md. Rohi (21), transgender, resident of Barishal, Bangladesh
  5. Toha (20), transgender, resident of Barishal, Bangladesh
  6. Liton @ Nikhill (34), male, resident of Chittagong, Bangladesh
  7. Alamin (33), male, resident of Khulna, Bangladesh

During the operation, police recovered five smartphones from the detainees. These devices were found to be installed with the banned communication application IMO, which is prohibited for use in India due to security concerns.

Legal Action and Deportation Process Initiated

Following their apprehension, legal proceedings have been initiated under relevant sections of Indian law, including the Foreigners Act.

Deportation protocols are being coordinated with the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO), Delhi, after completion of all necessary legal formalities.

A senior police official from the North-West District remarked, “The misuse of transgender identity as a cover for unlawful residency and activities is a matter of grave concern.

This operation reflects our commitment to maintaining security, law and order, and preventing the misuse of the capital’s social and legal systems.”

Delhi Police’s Continued Vigilance

The North-West District Police continues to monitor areas with high footfall and reported foreign activity, especially where intelligence suggests the presence of illegal immigrants.

This recent crackdown is part of an ongoing effort to eliminate unauthorized foreign elements and ensure public safety.

Delhi Police has urged citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious persons or activities in their locality. The force reiterated its firm stance against illegal immigration and its intent to take strict action against all violators of Indian immigration laws.
