The Delhi Police has registered a case against several individuals for allegedly submitting forged document to register as voters. The police took action after an election officer asked them to investigate the matter.
During the police routine check up, an official found four forged applications. The individuals allegedly submitted forged aadhar card and electricity bills as proof of identity and address. Three application has forged electricity bill while one had forged Aadhaar card. The individuals tried to change their registered address to vote in a new area.
This case has been registered under sections 336 and 340 of the Indian penal code for forgery with the intent to cheat and using forged documents as genuine. Currently the police is investigating the matter from every angle in order to find any potential accomplice or network involved in these fraudulent activities.
This devlopment comes amid claims of electoral roll malpractices by both BJP and AAP ahead of Delhi Assembly elections. However the Delhi police has vowed to take the electoral process seriously and deal strictly with anyone trying to cheat or manipulate the system.
