New Delhi, June 21— Delhi Police’s Special Cell has invoked the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) against Zoya Khan, the wife of incarcerated gangsterHashim Baba, alleging she operated his crime syndicate from within the national capital.

Khan, who hails from Welcome in northeast Delhi, was initially arrested in February in connection with a drug trafficking case.Subsequent investigations connected her to two high-profile murders: that of a businessman in Farsh Bazar and a gym owner, Nadir Shah, in Greater Kailash. Police claim she kept the gang running even while Hashim Baba was imprisoned in Tihar Jail.

Sources reveal that Delhi Police found a pistol in her residence, further strengthening the case under the rigorous provisions of MCOCA, designed to dismantle organized criminal networks.

Hashim Baba, real name Ashim, is a known associate of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. Born in 1982 in Gokulpuri’s Indira Vihar, he was arrested in 2020 in connection with multiple serious offenses including murder, extortion and the infamous 2016 Karkardooma court shooting. He also faces charges under MCOCA and was re-arrested while in Tihar for the Nadir Shah murder.

Police are expected to seek Khan’s custody early next week to further interrogate her and explore the full extent of the criminal syndicate’s reach. Her defense team, however, maintains she had cooperated with the investigation and insists her only “crime” is being married to Hashim Baba.

With the MCOCA charges in place, the Delhi Police aim to deliver a decisive blow to the gang’s Delhi operations, continuing their commitment to cracking down on organized crime.
