New Delhi:

In a significant breakthrough, a team of the Special Cell, South-Western Range (SWR) of Delhi Police has arrested an absconding accused involved in a sensational extortion and robbery case that took place in Narwana, Jind district of Haryana.

The operation was led by Inspector Sandeep Dabas under the supervision of ACP Rahul Kumar Singh. The accused, identified as Naseeb, a 32-year-old resident of Sultanpuri, Delhi, was apprehended near Khanda Chowk, Chander Vihar, in the Vikas Puri area of the national capital.

Crime Incident

The original incident occurred on June 13, 2025, at around 8:50 PM in Choupda Patti, Narwana. According to the complaint filed, the victim and his friend were present at a local grocery store when four armed assailants arrived on a scooty and motorcycle. Two of the culprits were identified in the FIR, while the other two remained unknown at the time. The gang, armed with weapons, stormed the store and demanded ₹50 lakh from the shop owner.

When the complainant refused to comply, the assailants shot him in the abdomen, took the cash counter keys, and looted ₹2.5 lakh in cash. Before fleeing the scene, they issued a chilling threat, warning the victim to arrange the demanded amount by the next day. The injured victim was rushed to a hospital, where he continues to receive treatment.

A criminal case was subsequently registered at Narwana City Police Station under FIR No. 170/2025, dated June 14, 2025. The charges include multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including 375/109(1)/308(4)/311/333/351(2)/3(5), along with relevant provisions of the Arms Act.

Operation and Arrest

Acting on a specific intelligence input received on June 21, 2025, the SWR team was informed that one of the accused involved in the Narwana case would be present near Khanda Chowk in Chander Vihar. Reacting promptly, a special team was deployed to the location. At approximately 5:00 PM, a man matching the description was spotted approaching the area.

The suspect attempted to flee upon noticing the police presence but was successfully overpowered and detained by alert team members. He was identified as Naseeb, son of Sita Ram, and a resident of Sultanpuri, Delhi.

During a personal search, police recovered one illegal Berretta pistol, three live cartridges, and a scooty bearing Delhi registration, which was allegedly used in the commission of the crime in Haryana.

Interrogation and Profile of the Accused

Upon interrogation, Naseeb admitted his involvement in the extortion and robbery incident. He disclosed that he had taken part in the armed heist with other accomplices who are still at large.

Naseeb is reportedly an illiterate individual from a financially underprivileged background. Married and one of five siblings, he struggled to make ends meet by taking up menial jobs in Delhi. However, in pursuit of quick money, he became involved with criminal gangs operating in both Delhi and Haryana. His arrest has brought relief to the investigators working on the Narwana case, who had been pursuing the accused ever since the incident occurred.

Recoveries Made

The police have seized the following items from the accused:

  1. One illegal Berretta pistol.
  2. Three live cartridges.
  3. One scooty bearing Delhi registration number, used during the commission of the crime.

Further Investigation

The arrest marks a significant development in the case, but efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining accused involved in the incident. Delhi Police is coordinating with their counterparts in Haryana to trace the other members of the gang. The accused, Naseeb, has been booked under appropriate sections of the Arms Act and is being produced for further legal proceedings.

The operation highlights the continued efforts of Delhi Police’s Special Cell in tackling inter-state criminal activities and ensuring public safety through precise intelligence and swift action.
