The former Chief Minister of Delhi and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor, Arvind Kejriwal alleged BJP and the Election Commission of India (ECI) for removing voters from the electoral roll at a massive scale.

Kejriwal alleged that BJP filed an application to ECI urging them to remove hundreds of voters from the electoral roll in constituencies citing the reason that either the people have migrated or have passed away. He added that 11,018 names in Shahadra, 6,247 in Janakpuri, 5,862 in Sangam Vihar, and 4,013 in Dwarka among others have been deleted.

He stated to check the viability of these applications, AAP did a random survey for 500 voters out of which 372 were found to be staying there proving the reason cited by BJP to be wrong. Around 75% of these voters came out to be AAP supporters. Hence, due to this tactic used by the BJP around 6% of AAP supporters in constituencies would not be able to vote in the assembly elections in Delhi expected to be held in early 2025.

Kejriwal warned the Booth Level Officers(BLOs) and Assistant Returning Officers(AROs) not to take part in this BJP-ECI conspiracy since they are the final authority whose signature is required to cut the names. He claimed that he’s going to take this matter further and therefore if the allegations are proved then it’s them who would be held responsible.
