Indian External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar is set to embark on an official visit to Qatar from December 30, 2024, to January 1, 2025. During his trip, Jaishankar will meet with Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, to discuss and review various aspects of bilateral relations between the two nations.
The visit aims to strengthen ties in areas such as political cooperation, trade and investment, energy security, cultural exchanges, and people-to-people relations. Additionally, Jaishankar and his Qatari counterpart will engage in discussions on regional and international issues of mutual interest.
India and Qatar have historically enjoyed warm and friendly relations, marked by regular high-level interactions. This visit is expected to further solidify the partnership between the two countries. Jaishankar’s trip is also seen as an opportunity to build on the momentum generated by previous interactions, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Qatar in February 2024.
