Today farmers started march from Noida to Delhi blocking the connecting highways to Delhi and Noida demanding land compensations. Calling the protest Delhi Chalo March. More than thousand Farmers from Uttar Pradesh marched from Noida to Delhi leading to massive traffic jam in areas like Mayur Vihar, Noida and Gautam Buddha Nagar mainly consisting of Bhartiya kisan parishad (BKP), Kisan mazdoor morcha (KMM) and Samyukt kisan morcha (SKM).
They are demanding land compensations , an allocation of 10 percent plots ,64.7 percent increased compensation under the acquisition law, 20 percent plots on lands acquired after January 1 2014, and they also want children of landless labors to be given employment and rehabilitation facility. Several protestors in attempt to move towards Delhi are throwing barricades and climbing through them.
A police officer said that ‘tight security measures have been been taken as winter parliament session is going on the farmers have been banned from entering Delhi they have prepared 3 tier security plan’. More than 5000 police personnel and 1000 PAC force have been deployed for the affected area with some medical arrangements , fire fighting squad and traffic management authority.
Chirag paswan minister of food processing industries emphasized that ‘his government is ready to listen to farmers’ thoughts and cooperate with them last time also they also took back the law the farmers had problems with. It certainly shows that government is trying to work with keeping in mind the farmers sentiments’. The farmers have been stopped at mahamaya flyover but the farmers want to head to delhi as they think the solution to their problem will be in delhi.
