The former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s, who passed away on Thursday night at the age of 92 , last rites will be performed on Saturday with full state honours.
The Congress party president Mallikarjun kharge has demanded seprate resting place for Singh along the banks of the Yamuna river near Raj Ghat, where several other Prime Ministers have memorials .
A state mourning of seven days have been declared and the national flag will be flown half-mast until January 1 on Saturday, and a half day holiday has been declared in all the central government offices and central PSUs.
Manmohan Singh’s mortal remain were kept at his residence on Friday, where President Droupadi Murmu, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar, and Prime Minister Modi paid their respects. Singh’s remains will be taken to the Congress party headquarters on Saturday to enable public and other works to pay their respects.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised Singh’s commitment to the people and the nation’s devlopment, he further said that his demise is a tremendous loss for us as a nation.
The nation will bid it’s final farewell on Saturday 28th. His final journey will begin from Congress headquarter to cremation ground at 9:30 am.
