The Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, VK Saxena, has expressed his strong disapproval of AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal’s remarks referring to Chief Minister Atishi as a “Temporary Chief Minister.”
In a letter to Atishi, Saxena described his disapproval, stating it is an insult to not only Atishi but also the President of India and himself as his representative. He conveyed his feelings of ‘hurt and objections.’ He further said, ‘I found this highly objectionable and was hurt by it. He later highlighted the importance of maintaining a respectful level of public discourse, particularly regarding the role of Chief Minister.
The LG praised Atishi for her work as a Chief Minister, underlining her efforts in taking charge of various departments, unlike her predecessor. He called Atishi, ‘a thousand times better than Kejriwal.’
Atishi took over the role of Chief Minister in September this year following Kejriwal’s resignation after his release from Tihar Jail. Assembly elections are scheduled in Delhi for February 2025.
