Huma Qureshi’s Cousin Murdered in Delhi’s Nizamuddin After Parking Row
Bollywood actor Huma Qureshi’s family has been struck by tragedy after her cousin, Asif Qureshi, 42, was allegedly killed in Delhi’s Nizamuddin area on Thursday night following a heated dispute over a parking space. According to police reports, the altercation escalated into a violent attack involving sharp weapons, leaving Asif fatally wounded.
The Delhi Police have arrested two suspects — Ujjwal (19) and Gautam (18) — both residents living just a few metres from Asif’s home. Authorities have registered a case under sections 103(1) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and further investigation is underway.
Incident Began with Parking Dispute
The confrontation reportedly began around 9:30–10:00 pm on August 7, when Asif noticed a two-wheeler parked directly in front of the main entrance to his residence. He asked the vehicle owner to move it so as not to block the doorway. Police said the request led to a verbal altercation that quickly spiralled out of control.
According to statements from the family, one of the men verbally abused Asif and threatened to return. Within minutes, the individual came back accompanied by his brother. Armed with a sharp, “poker-type” weapon, they allegedly stabbed Asif in the chest during the confrontation.
Family’s Account of the Tragic Night
Shaheen, one of Asif’s two wives, recounted the harrowing sequence of events to reporters. “A neighbour parked a scooter right outside our house. My husband politely asked him to move it. The man became aggressive, abused Asif, and threatened to come back. Moments later, he returned with his brother, and they attacked him. I called my brother-in-law Javed, but by the time he reached, Asif had lost a lot of blood and passed away.”
Saleem Qureshi, Huma Qureshi’s father and Asif’s uncle, said the attack was sudden and unprovoked. “Two men parked a scooter in front of the house. Asif asked them not to block the entrance. A simple request led to a verbal spat that turned violent. Together, they killed my nephew.”
Victim’s Background
Asif Qureshi was a known figure in the locality, running a chicken business in the national capital. He is survived by two wives. Friends and neighbours described him as a peaceful man who rarely got into disputes.
The crime has left the Nizamuddin community in shock, with residents expressing outrage over how a minor parking issue escalated into a fatal incident.
Police Response and Investigation
Following the attack, Asif was rushed to a nearby hospital, but doctors declared him dead on arrival due to severe blood loss from the chest injury. The suspects were apprehended within hours.
A senior police official stated, “Both accused are from the same locality and lived just a short distance from the victim’s residence. The murder weapon has been recovered, and CCTV footage from the area is being examined. Further interrogation is ongoing to determine if there were any prior disputes between the parties.”
Authorities have confirmed that Asif’s body has been sent for post-mortem, and forensic teams are working to match evidence from the scene with the suspects’ statements.
Huma Qureshi Yet to Respond Publicly
As of now, Bollywood actor Huma Qureshi has not issued any public statement regarding the loss of her cousin. The tragic incident has attracted significant attention due to her celebrity status, but the family is believed to be in mourning and focusing on funeral arrangements.

The shocking nature of the killing has prompted calls for stricter neighbourhood conflict resolution measures and heightened police patrolling in residential areas. Local residents say such violent escalations over trivial matters are becoming more frequent and must be addressed before they lead to more loss of life.
