West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has expressed shock and outrage over Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s recent reflections about B R Ambedkar. Speaking at the induction of the’ Kolkata Christmas Festival’, Banerjee nominated Shah’s commentary as depreciatory and an personality to the millions of people who look up to Ambedkar for guidance and alleviation.
Banerjee contended that Shah’s reflections reflect the BJP’s” casteist andanti-Dalit mindset”. She posted on X,” The mask has fallen! As Parliament reflects on 75 noble times of the Constitution, HM@AmitShah chose to Blemish this occasion with depreciatory reflections against Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar”.
Shah had sparked contestation by saying that taking Ambedkar’s name constantly would not guarantee a place in heaven. Banerjee reiterated that Ambedkar, the father of the Constitution, deserves respect. The Congress party has also demanded Shah’s abdication over his reflections.
