Today, Opposition party MPs walked out of Parliament as they were barred from questioning External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar by Chairman and Vice President of India Jagdeep Dhankhar, leading to an uproar in the House.
External Affairs Minister Jaishankar made a statement on China, highlighting disengagement achieved in Eastern Ladakh, ongoing de-escalation talks, and the resumption of bilateral engagement in a calibrated manner. He also said that India remains committed to engaging with China to arrive at a fair, mutually acceptable framework for a boundary settlement.
The walkout occurred during the questioning session, with Opposition MPs protesting restrictions on asking questions about Jaishankar’s statement. However, Chairman Dhankhar emphasized the importance of maintaining stability, decorum, and consensus on national security issues, requesting members to follow House rules without an opposition protest.
