Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered his remarks via video message today during India Energy Week 2025. He stressed to the audience at Yashobhoomi that they are not just a part of Energy Week but also essential to India’s energy goals. He emphasized the important role that all participants including notable foreign guests played in this occasion and gave them a warm welcome.

Highlighting the fact that experts from all over the world are claiming that India is the rightful owner of the twenty-first century, PM Modi said, “India is driving not only its growth but also the growth of the world, with the energy sector playing a significant role.”

He underlined that India’s energy aspirations are supported by five pillars: resource exploitation, fostering innovation among bright minds, political stability and economic power, strategic location that facilitates and attracts energy trade, and dedication to global sustainability.

According to the Prime Minister, these elements are opening up new prospects for India’s energy industry. PM Modi emphasized that the next five years will see the achievement of several important milestones, underscoring the importance of the next two decades for a Viksit Bharat.

He pointed out that a number of India’s energy objectives, such as adding 500 gigawatts of renewable energy capacity, getting Indian Railways to have net zero carbon emissions, and creating five million metric tons of green hydrogen a year, are in line with the 2030 target.

He admitted that although these goals may appear lofty, the successes of the last ten years have given hope that they will be accomplished. “India has grown from the tenth largest to the fifth largest economy in the past decade”, PM Modi said.

He pointed out that India is the first G20 nation to meet the targets of the Paris Agreement and that the country’s non-fossil fuel energy capacity has tripled. With a current rate of 19 percent, the Prime Minister highlighted India’s accomplishments in ethanol blending, which have resulted in considerable reductions in CO2 emissions, huge savings in foreign exchange, and substantial farmer earnings.

He emphasized India’s objective to meet a mandate of 20% ethanol by October 2025. The Indian Government also established a single-window clearance process and opened the Exclusive Economic Zone as part of the Open Acreage Licencing Policy (OALP).

According to PM Modi, the Oil fields Regulation & Development Act has been amended to provide stakeholders with better financial conditions, longer leases, and policy stability. PM Modi pointed out that India is encouraging domestic production, as evidenced by the growth in solar PV module production capacity over the last ten years, which has increased from 2 gigawatts to almost 70 gigawatts.

He underlined that the production of high-efficiency solar PV modules has been encouraged by the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) plan, which has increased the sector’s appeal.

The PM noted that the government has waived basic customs duties on a number of goods associated with the production of EV and cell phone batteries. This comprises lead, zinc, cobalt powder, lithium-ion battery trash, and other vital minerals.

The National Critical Minerals Mission will be essential to creating a strong supply chain in India, he said. He also emphasized the need to promote the ecosystem of non-lithium batteries.

He emphasized how common farmers and families now had access to energy. The PM Suryagarh Free Electricity Scheme was introduced last year, he said, and its purview extends beyond energy generation.

He pointed out that this program is expanding investment opportunities, building a new service ecosystem, and fostering new talents in the solar industry.

The Prime Minister reaffirmed India’s commitment to offering energy solutions that spur development and preserve the environment as he wrapped up his speech. “I am confident that this Energy Week will produce tangible results in this regard,” he said.
