The second meeting of the Joint Working Group (JWG) on Counter Terrorism between Tanzania and India took place in Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania, from February 12–13, 2025.

The delegations were led by Dr. Maduhu I. Kazi, Deputy Permanent Secretary, Tanzanian Ministry of Home Affairs, and Mr. K.D. Dewal, Joint Secretary for Counter Terrorism at the Ministry of External Affairs. The meeting was attended by representatives from several departments and agencies in both countries.

The two sides discussed new risks in their respective areas, including cross-border and state-sponsored terrorism. The two sides also discussed a wide range of topics, such as radicalization, the worldwide movement of terrorists, and the exploitation of the internet and new and developing technology for terrorist goals.

Both sides had similar experiences fighting the narco-terror network, transnational organized crime, and terrorist financing. In order to combat these dangers, the two parties agreed to maintain their bilateral and multilateral efforts, create capacity, and exchange information.

Additionally, the Indian delegation met with representatives of Tanzania’s Police Forensic Bureau (PFB) and talked about enhancing capacity-building efforts between PFB and its Indian equivalent.

The next joint working group meeting will take place in Delhi on a date that works for both parties.
