National Security Adviser of India, Ajit Doval, met with his US counterpart, Jake Sullivan, in New Delhi on January 6, 2025. Sullivan was accompanied by a delegation of senior US government officials. This meeting was part of the ongoing high-level dialogue between the two nations, focusing on bilateral, regional, and global issues.
The discussion built upon the India-US Initiative on Critical and Emerging Technologies (iCET), launched by Prime Minister Modi and President Joseph Biden in May 2022. The initiative has driven cooperation in areas like Artificial Intelligence, Quantum Computing, Semiconductors, Telecommunications, Defence, and Space.
During the meeting, Sullivan briefed the Indian side on updates to US missile export control policies under the Missile Technology Control Regime (MTCR). These changes are expected to boost US commercial space cooperation with India. Furthermore, Sullivan announced US efforts to delist Indian nuclear entities, promoting civil nuclear cooperation and resilient clean energy supply chains.
This development reflects the growing strategic partnership between the US and India, built on their shared commitment to peaceful nuclear cooperation. The meeting also reviewed progress in defence, cyber, and maritime security cooperation.
The India-US partnership has been gaining momentum, with cooperation in critical and emerging technologies being a key area of focus. This meeting marks another significant step in strengthening the bilateral relationship between the two nations.
