External Affairs Minister of India Dr. S. Jaishankar on Friday clarified in Lok Sabha that India can have good ties with Pakistan only if it is free of terrorists otherwise implications would be there. He also stated India’s agnostic position in trade and commerce with Pak.

BJP MP Naveen Jindal questioned EAM S. Jaishankar about the improvements in India-Pak relations and India’s stance on trade and commerce with it. Acknowledging Jindal, EAM S. Jaishankar clarified India’s position that like any other neighbor India would like to have good ties with Pakistan but on the condition of the ties being free of terrorists.

He said, “We have made it clear that it is for the Pakistani side to show that they are changing their behavior of the past and that if they don’t of course there are implications for the relationship and further. So I think the ball is very much in Pakistan’s court in this regard.”

Mentioning India’s stance on trade he said, “Regarding trade some of the disruption which happened happened because decision by the govt of Pakistan in 2019 and it is a matter on which they took the initiative and we have an agnostic position on this”
