In a significant event for Andhra Pradesh, Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone and inaugurated development projects worth over ₹2 lakh crore in Visakhapatnam. This marks a pivotal moment for the state as it embarks on ambitious green energy initiatives and infrastructure projects aimed at transforming its economic landscape.

During the ceremony, PM Modi expressed gratitude to the people of Andhra Pradesh for their warm welcome and acknowledged the historical significance of the occasion, noting that it was the first official program in the state following the formation of the new government. He emphasized the potential of Andhra Pradesh, stating, “Our Andhra Pradesh is a state of possibilities and opportunities.” He underscored that realizing these possibilities is crucial for the state’s development and for India to emerge as a developed nation.

Highlighting the government’s commitment to the state’s growth, Modi stated, “The development of Andhra Pradesh is our vision, and serving the people of Andhra Pradesh is our commitment.” He pointed out the ambitious target set for the state to become a $2.5 trillion economy by 2047, referencing the ‘Swarna Andhra@2047’ initiative launched by former Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu. He said, “The infrastructure revolution in Andhra Pradesh, with better connectivity and facilities, will transform the state’s landscape.”

A key highlight of the event was the announcement of the first Green Hydrogen Hub under the National Green Hydrogen Mission, which aims to produce 5 million metric tonnes of green hydrogen by 2030. Modi noted that Visakhapatnam would be among the few cities globally to host large-scale green hydrogen production facilities, creating numerous job opportunities and fostering a manufacturing ecosystem in the region.

The Prime Minister also laid the foundation for a bulk drug park in Nakkapalli, emphasizing its role in enhancing infrastructure for manufacturing and research, which will boost investor confidence and benefit local pharmaceutical companies. Additionally, he announced the establishment of the Krishnapatnam Industrial Area, or Kris City, which is expected to attract significant investment and create millions of jobs.

Modi further highlighted the importance of the newly established South Coast Railway Zone headquarters in Visakhapatnam, fulfilling a long-standing demand and enhancing agricultural and trade activities in the region. He noted that Andhra Pradesh is among the states with 100% railway electrification and mentioned ongoing developments under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme.

In his address, the Prime Minister reiterated the government’s focus on urbanization as an opportunity for growth and the promotion of the blue economy to fully leverage maritime resources. He emphasized the modernization of Visakhapatnam Fishing Harbour and the provision of support for fishermen, including Kisan Credit Cards.

Concluding his speech, Modi reaffirmed the government’s commitment to inclusive development, ensuring that the benefits of progress reach all sections of society. He congratulated the people of Andhra Pradesh on the inauguration of these transformative projects, which he believes will pave the way for a prosperous and modern state.

The event was attended by notable dignitaries, including Andhra Pradesh Governor S. Abdul Nazeer, Union Minister for Civil Aviation Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu, and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, among others.
