The Israeli military has bombed locations around Syria while Syrians continue to celebrate the overthrow of Bashar al-Assad’s government.

Following the overthrow of the regime, Israel has undertaken a series of airstrikes, claiming to have attacked military targets to prevent arms from reaching the rebels. The Israeli military claimed to have destroyed targets like the Syrian naval force and carried out about 480 strikes. Targets included anti-aircraft batteries, airfields, and weapons production sites in Damascus, Homs, Tartus, Latakia, and Palmyra, according to the Israeli military.

The Syrian port city of Latakia had been destroyed. It has also overtaken part of the demilitarized zone, including the Syrian side of Mount Hermon overlooking Damascus

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he authorized the bombing of ‘strategic military capabilities left by the Syrian army so that they would not fall into the hands of the jihadists.’
