The names of four Israeli women hostages were revealed by the militant organization Hamas on Friday. The women will be freed on Saturday in return for 200 Palestinian prisoners who are presently being detained in Israeli jails.
According to media reports, Karina Ariev, Daniella Gilboa, Naama Levy, and Liri Albag are the four Israeli women soldiers who will be freed in the second transfer as part of the ceasefire agreement in Gaza.
It is anticipated that the swap will occur on Saturday afternoon. This comes after 90 Palestinian inmates and three Israeli women were freed last Sunday.
The exchange is part of a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas in the war in Gaza, which went into force on Sunday and resulted in the release of 90 Palestinian inmates and three hostage women.
The fragile truce is meant to set the stage for a long-term resolution to the conflict in Gaza, which started when Hamas attacked Israel on October 7.
The office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu acknowledged receiving the names via intermediaries.
After the releases, Palestinians who were displaced by the conflict to southern Gaza should be able to start moving back to the north of the damaged territory, according to Bassem Naim, a member of Hamas’ political bureau in Qatar, who spoke on Friday.
This portion of the deal will be implemented on the ground under the supervision of an Egyptian-Qatari committee,” he stated.
Currently, seven Israeli women are still believed to be held by Hamas militants in Gaza, including two civilians and five Israel Defense Forces (IDF) service members.
