In a swift advance across Syria, rebel fighters overthrew President Bashar Assad’s government and took control of the capital, Damascus. As Israel continues to bombard the Syrian capital, explosions have been reported in Damascus and the surrounding areas.

Israel has “destroyed the most important military sites in Syria” since Assad’s downfall, a war monitor said. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) has documented around 300 Israeli airstrikes on Syrian territory since October 8. According to the UK-based war monitor, on Dec. 9 alone, more than 100 airstrikes were launched against military targets in Syria.

At least two people were killed in Israeli attacks on the governorate of Deraa in southwestern Syria on December 9, according to SOHR on December 10. The 12th Brigade in the city of Ezrae was the attack’s objective.
