ISRO is gearing up for a historic milestone with its upcoming Geosynchronous Launch Vehicle mission in January, marking the 100th launch from its Sriharikota spaceport. This achievement follows the successful execution of the PSLV-C60 mission, which launched two spacecraft for the Space Docking Experiment into orbit.

ISRO Chairman S Somanath confirmed that the PSLV-C60 mission marked a significant milestone, paving the way for future space docking experiments. These experiments are part of India’s space sector reforms and expansion plans. Somanath also highlighted future missions, including the launch of the NVS-02 with the GSLV in 2025.

The PSLV-C60 mission demonstrated India’s growing expertise in space technology, successfully placing two spacecraft into a 475 km circular orbit. In the coming days, the spacecraft will perform docking operations, showcasing India’s capabilities in space mission operations. This achievement is crucial for future projects like Chandrayaan-4 and India’s lunar aspirations.

Mission Director M Jayakumar emphasized the role of the POEM-4 module in the mission, which includes 24 payloads from various contributors. This milestone underscores India’s progress in advancing its space sector, with plans to establish its own Space Station by 2035.

ISRO’s upcoming missions and projects are expected to further cement India’s position in the global space arena. With its rich expertise and experience, ISRO is poised to achieve new heights in space exploration and technology.
