Pro-Russian Hacker Group claimed a cyber attack on Italy’s ten official websites including the websites of the Foreign Ministry and two airports of Milan on Saturday
The cyber attack brought the websites to a temporary halt and caused significant disruptions. The spokesperson of Italy’s Cyber Security Agency stated that assistance was provided to the targetted firms and institutions instantly and the impact was relieved within two hours.
The spokesperson of SEA, which manages Milan’s Linate and Malpensa airport claimed that no major issues have been reported by the flights at the airports. He added that airport websites were inaccessible however mobile apps continued to function.
The pro-Russian Hacker Group, Noname057(16) took responsibility for the attack through a Telegram post mentioning that Italy’s “Russophobes get a well-deserved cyber response.”
The attack highlighted Russia and Italy’s hostility following Italian Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni’s warning on December 22 of Russia using threats other than defense against Europe.
