A tragic incident occurred in Poonch district on Tuesday evening, resulting in the death of five brave soldiers and injuring five others.
The incident happened when an army vehicle carrying 11 soldiers of the Maratha light Infantry veered off the road along the line of control (LoC) and fell into 150-foot-deep gorge.
According to the officials the incident occurred on Tuesday evening around 5:40 pm near Ghora post, where the vehicle was travelling from Nilam headquarters to Balnoi Ghora Post. A rescue operation with a police party from Mankote was launched.
The Indian army 16 corps expressed their condolences stating that ‘rescue operation are ongoing and injured personnel are receiving medical treatment’. The incident serves as a reminder for citizens of the risks and challenges faced by our armed forces.
