Aam Aadmi Party leader Arvind Kejriwal has made some sensational claims alleging BJP of deleting votes of delhi residents particularly of people living in slums and other minorities.
To address this issue he wrote a 3000 page letter to EC. In the letter he expressed his concerns over the impact of the voters deletion, suggesting that they could potentially disenfranchise legitimate voters and undermine the democratic process. He requested the EC to ensure that no more deletion happens without thorough verification process and also emphasized to protect the rights of voters. The letter also consist of reports and documents of him proofing that BJP is involved in deletion of votes.
Kejriwal requested that any deletion shall be carried out in transparent manner, with an opportunity for affected voters to revalidate their status as deletion might lead the voters turnout in the favour of opposition parties.
The timing of the letter is critical as Delhi is set to face elections several people voiced out their concerns about the integrity of the electoral process, with several party and organisations calling out for more transparency in the maintenance of electoral rolls.
